CAMERON (1922 – 1995)
Opening Saturday, September 25th, we will be presenting a rare collection of drawings by the West Coast Beat Generation artist, Cameron. She has been largely associated with the experimental 50s and 60s occult practices experienced in Pasadena, Joshua Tree, San Francisco, Santa Fe to San Miquel de Allende with David Alfaro Siqueiros and Leonora Carrington. She is frequently referenced in many counter-culture circles from the 50s and 60s including:

- The Scarlett Woman
All cementing her legacy as a significant underground avant-garde mystic.
Following her death in 1995, she was included in Lisa Phillip’s historic exhibition entitled “Beat Culture and the New America” at the Whitney Museum which was one of the first inclusions of visual culture into the movement which had largely been relegated to writing and music. This was followed by a significant survey of her surviving works by MOCA (LA) in 2015 and the Drawing Center, New York in 2023.
